Erhardt ( Hardy) Tulgesta proved last year was no fluke when he again won the Walmart BFL held Saturday on Burt and Mullett lakes. While he wasn't able to repeat the near 25 pound limit he weighed in last year, he was able to once again weigh an awesome sack, nearly 23 pounds to win for the second year in a row. Hardy targeted mainly post spawn fish after finding most of his fish had left the beds. Hardy said he only weighed 1 fish taken off a bed. The recent hot weather left many fisherman finding empty beds on tournament day, but Hardy used his extensive knowledge of the lake to adjust and still weigh a great limit. Most of his fish were caught in the 8 to 12 foot range on dropshot and tubes. Making a hard charge at Hardy was Dave Schneider who weighed in 22 pounds 11 ounces to finish a very close second. Dave credits his extensive practice time and organization to his success. Having spent 19 days on the lake in preparation Dave had a solid game plan prepared for the tournament. Dave had over 55 fish on beds gps'ed and created cards for each bed describing the position of the fish on the bed and the weight of the fish.

After much bragging about the great fishing on a private lake in Brooklyn, John decided to see for himself if the lake was as good as advertised. Much to my surprise, the fish were doing exactly as I expected. We immediately went to the backs of the pockets and began to catch fish immediately. Read more...
