FISHING REPORT FOR WEEK END 7-05-08

Lake Erie: The smallmouth are ending the spawn with many large fish being caught. The fish are being found in large groups in 9 to 12 feet of water. Tubes and dropshots are the most consistant. Pelee Island area has been on fire producing large numbers of fish.

Detroit River: White bass are being caught by the hundreds, anything with a flash and a hook will produce fish.

There are a lot of nice largemouth bass in the 2 - 4 lb range being caught around docks and scattered weeds.

ST. Clair: Smallmouth and Largemouth fishing has been outstanding. Many fish are being caught in 4 to 6 feet of water. Anywhere along the mile roads and Anchor bay, has been producing well. Rattletraps, jerkbaits and tubes are producing best. Some nice fish are being caught in the channels and river already. The canals are loaded with largemouth, with the average fish being around 2 1/2 pounds. The Belle River humps have been outstanding, but expect alot of company.

Saginaw Bay: The perch action has been very good, areas around Linwood and Quanicassee have been produced best. Largemouth bass fishing has been very good with fish up to 5 pounds being taken.

The FLW tour comes to the Detroit River this week, I believe this may be the year the winner comes from St. Clair. Erie is not as consistant as in the past and St Clair is on FIRE. This will be an absolute slugfest. I want to wish my good friends Steve Clapper, Mark Modrak, and Kevin Vida the best of luck as I have all 3 on my fantasy fishing team.
